Awareness Programme on Safety Security Measures Held at Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway Station

Live Demonstrations During Awareness Programme

          The Hyderabad City Police, Central Zone held an “Awareness Programme o­n Safety Security Measures” in association with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) today i.e., 4th August, 2014 at Hyderabad (Nampally) Railway Station. The programme was meant to sensitize the frontline persons/stake holders such as Hawkers, Auto/Taxi Drivers, Railway Porters and Railway Staff o­n the need to be vigilant against any disruptive activities so as to ensure safety in Railway premises and mass contact areas.

Shri. V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone), Shri Chandrasekhar Reddy, Superintendent of Police, GRP, Secunderabadwere amongst the senior Police Officials present.


Addressing the large gathering, Shri Kamalasan Reddy spoke of the resolve of the Police Department to make Hyderabad a Safe City. In the light of several bomb blasts in Hyderabad City in the past, he stressed o­n the need for every citizen to remain alert and thwart any attempt by disruptive forces to cause destruction.Therefore, in mass contact areas such as Railway Stations, it is the frontline persons like the Hawkers, Auto/Taxi Drivers, Luggage Porters, and Railway Staff etc., who can pave the way for ensuring safety and security by being vigilant during the course of their duties, he added. This will enable them to immediately bring any suspicious act/activity to notice of the Police. He also added that the Police Department is planning to initiate SMS bulk messaging system to alert hawkers etc., o­n security issues.

Shri K.Sambasiva Rao, Chief Public Relations Officer, SCR laid out the priority being accorded to the aspect of safety and security by Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, SCR towards ensuring protection to rail users and rail property o­n the Zone. He spelt o­n the steps taken at Hyderabad Railway Station to optimize security by installing modern equipments as Door frame metal detectors, Baggage scanners, Surveillance Cameras monitored by a 24 x 7 control room etc., as a part of the Integrated Security System (ISS) in implementation.

The gathering was also educated through live demonstrations o­n potential acts of terrorist/militant groups such as planting of bombs by various means and how the bomb disposal squad acts to diffuse the bombs. Pamphlets carrying photographs of several wanted persons involved in terrorist/extremist activity were also circulated to enable identify them.
