VIGILANCE DEPARTMENT OF NORTHERN RAILWAY UNCOVERS TOUTING ACTIVITY IN BOOKING OF E-TICKETS IN A TICKETING AGENCY AT GURGAON

            Acting o­n source information,Vigilance department of Northern Railway in association with Railway Protection Force of Crime Investigation Branch and Delhi Cantt. station uncovered touting activity indulged by a rail ticketing agency M/s Shristi Travel, Kasan Road, Manesar, Gurgaon in the booking of e-tickets o­n 14.07.2014. Contrary to the practice of booking of e-tickets o­n authorized agent ID, the said agency was resorting to the malpractice of booking large number of e-tickets o­n personal ID of staff and was receiving unlawful gratification for the same. During a preventive check conducted, 22 e-tickets worth Rs. 10299/- for different locations and dates were recovered from the said agency prepared o­n personnel ID instead of agent ID. o­ne Mr. Aditya, staff of Shiristi Travel was arrested o­n the spot and under section 143 of Railway Act and case no. 149/14 was registered in the matter at RPF Gurgaon. 

Unauthorized buying and selling of reserved tickets is an offence under Section 143 of the Railways Act. Northern Railway reiterates its appeal to all authorized ticketing agencies to observe prescribed rules.
