Railway Ticketing to be Made Paperless in 5 Years: Gowda
Bangalore (SBC): Indian Railways plans to go for paper-less operation in issuing passenger tickets in the next five years, Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said.
Speaking to reporters after participating in the golden-jubilee celebration of Janata Co-operative Bank here, Gowda said state-of-the-art technology would be deployed for providing the best services to passengers.
Taking note of the passengers’ plight in getting travel accommodation through on-line services, he said the capacity of the online booking has been raised from the existing 7,200 per minute to over 1,20,000. “This was made possible after upgrading the existing technology,” he said.
He said passengers trying to book their tickets were facing problems earlier in getting access to the railways booking system due to technical problems. But the Railways has upgraded and updated the technology now, and passengers are getting better services in booking tickets, he said.
