Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a detailed review o­n Safety, Punctuality and Freight Loading today i.e., 16th June, 2020 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad along with Shri B. B. Singh, Additional General Manager, SCR. Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded participated the meeting through video conference.
The General Manager extensively reviewed the safety aspects o­n the Zone including monsoon precautions, in view of the o­nset of monsoon season. He instructed the officials to accord high priority for monsoon precautions.
Ø Intensify the monsoon patrolling and make action plans to monitor all identified vulnerable / sensitive locations to ensure safety of the track.
Ø Pruning tree branches particularly trees in proximity of railway track/formation.
Ø Installing anemometers at all the major and nominated bridges with buzzer facility.
Ø Clearance of longitudinal cross drains at yards of major stations.
Ø Lowering of cess level is from railway level for quick drainage of water at yards of major stations.
Ø Liaison with State Government officials in keeping a watch of water flowing at nearby locations (like tanks etc.,) so as to get advanced information during any breach.
Shri Gajanan Mallya advised the officials to focus o­n maintaining the punctual running of the special trains. He also took stock of the COVID preparedness and the precautions that need to be followed as another priority area.
The General Manager also reviewed the freight loading activity o­n the Zone. He complemented the officials for a record loading of food grains which is more than 240% higher compared to last year, apart from incremental loading in fertilizer and granite sectors. He also appreciated the efforts of Zone in maintaining average speed of 50 Kmph for freight trains, which stands 3rd across Indian Railway
