Trains Diverted Due to Goods Train derailment in Vijayawada Division

A goods train loaded with petroleum products in BTPN Tank wagons at HPCL siding, Gangineni got derailedbetween Surareddipalem - Tangutur stations o­n o­ngole - Gudur section of Vijayawada division. The train was going to Bhakarapeta Railway station in Guntakal Division, after passing Surareddipalem station 5 (Five) BTPN wagons of the train got derailed at around 00.10 hrs o­n 25thJune, 2020 out of these five wagons, 3 wagons caught fire completely and anther 01 wagon caught fire partially.On receiving the information, Railway officials immediately swung into action and separated the front portion and moved 1 Km away from the spot to minimize intensity. Simultaneously, accident relief trains from Bitragunta and Vijayawada Railway stations were also moved to the spot. NDRF team was also requested to assist in rescue operations, while two fire engines from Surareddipalem and Tangutur were also ordered to put off the fire. As a precautionary measure, OHE o­n UP&Down lines were switched off to reduce the damage. Down lines restored at 04.00 hrs and Up line made fit for train operations at 19.00hrs hrs of 25th June, 2020.
