Suburban Commuters Get More Accomodation from this New Year 2019 -South Eastern Railway

NEW YEAR GIFT TO SUBURBAN COMMUTERS FORM 1ST JANUARY 2019 ALL EMU OF SER IS OF 12 CAR RAKE
Kolkata, 31st December, 2018
For the convenience of the suburban passengers and to accommodate more number of passengers, South Eastern Railway will run all EMU trains with 12 car rakes on and from 1st January, 2019. This will help not only to the passengers of Howrah-Kharagpur-Midnapore section but also to the passengers of Digha and Amta line.
At present, SER runs 194 EMU service on an average daily with 30 Rakes. Now all these 30 rakes are of 12 car coaches. Previously 9 car rake were accommodating 918 passengers, whereas with the introduction of 12 car rake it will be 1240 numbers of passengers per rake and there will be a sharp increase of 322 passengers in a normal service.
To render more facilities to the passengers of Suburban sections, SER has already inducted 11 numbers of most modernized GPS based energy saving, 3-phase indigenous EMU rakes with CCTV surveillance in the ladies’ compartments.
