Telangana: Pensioners above 70 to get 15 percent more
Hyderabad: The state government is all set to pay an additional 15 per cent pension to pensioners who have completed 70 years of age. At present, this benefit is extended to those who have completed 75 years of age.
The Pay Revision Commission appointed in 2013 had recommended enhancement  of pension under ‘quantum of pension’ scheme for those who completed 70 years  of age.
Though the TS government implemented all the recommendations made by PRC on hike in salaries, allowances and pensions, the recommendation on quantum of  pension was kept on hold.
Pensioners who completed 70 years of age have been requesting the government for long to implement PRC recommendations in this regard. Teacher MLC Paturi Sudhakar Reddy, chief whip in the TS Legislative Council, took up the issue with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The CM agreed to relax the age limit and asked finance department to submit  proposals in this regard. “This is a long  pending demand of pensioners. We thank the CM for approving  our demand. With 75 years as the cut-off, very few pensioners could avail the  benefit. The age relaxation would enable more pensioners to avail the benefit,” Mr  Reddy said.
