SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTED IN ZRUCC MEETING

Kolkata, 17thMay, 2017:

The 100th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Shri S N Agrawal, General Manager, South Eastern Railway at Riviera Hall near Howrah Station this morning (17/5/2017).

The ZRUCC Meeting was attended by Shri Sultan Ahmed, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Shri Bidyut Baran Mahato, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and 24 other members representing various fields and diverse interests including Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Passenger Associations etc. from three states viz. West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand which fall under the jurisdiction of S E Railway. Addl. Director General, Railways, West Bengal and IG Railway, Odisha were also present.

Initially Hon’ble MPs and Members were apprised of the excellent performance and developmental activities of S E Railway through a Power Point Presentation. General Manager, S E Railway said that it is a matter of great pride that S E Railway has received the Govind Vallabh Pant Shield from the Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu for overall performance in the National Railway Week Celebrations held at Raipur recently. GM said that Traffic Transportation Shield was also won by S E Railway for record performance in Freight as well as Passenger Traffic.

All the members put forward their views and suggestions. They appreciated the efforts of S E Railway to increase the passenger amenities and issues relating to train running. Deliberations in form of suggestions put forth by the members towards service improvements were also discussed in a cordial manner. Suggestions and demands of the members included running of more trains, extension of services, stoppages of trains, construction of Road Over Bridge, cleanliness in trains and stations, better parking facilities etc.

General Manager, Shri Agrawal in his address said that the serious note would be taken o­n suggestions and demands made by the members. He further stated that S E Railway would initiate actions to address the demands within its competence. GM also spoke about the need of co-operation of the Hon’ble Members for better running of train services and overall cleanliness. He also mentioned about the measures taken by SER in regard to passenger amenities and extending more benefits to the passengers.

An election for ZRUCC (Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee) to NRUCC (National Railway Users’ Consultative Committee) through secret ballot was held during the meeting. Dr. Arun Tewari has been elected for NRUCC as a representative of S E Railway ZRUCC.
