SHRI MANISH GROVER, HON’BLE MINISTER, CO-OPERATION, HARYANA PRESIDES OVER THE PARALLEL CEREMONY AT ROHTAK

Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways laid the foundation stone for a new elevated track in lieu of existing Rohtak-Gohana Line in Rohtak City through video-conferencing from Mumbai at  a ceremony held today(1.11.2016). A parallel synchronized ceremony was also held at Rohtak on the same occasion. Shri Manish Kumar Grover, Hon’ble Minister(IC), Co-operation, Haryana was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The esteemed Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal also congratulated Shri Prabhu for this development project through a telephonic message relayed in public. Senior Executives from the Railways Shri P.K.Sanghi, Chief Administrative Officer, Construction, Northern Railway and senior Railway officials were also present on the occasion.

With a 26% increase in outlay for new works in the State of Haryana in the Rail Budget 2016-17, Northern Railway has planned to step up infrastructure through new rail development projects, surveys for proposed works and through electrification of dense inter-city lines.  The existing Rohtak-Panipat-Gohana line passes through the densely populated city areas of Rohtak on which five important level-crossings are situatedBesides this line also has a blind curve within the city limits. In order to tackle the operational constraints of general traffic congestion in all the rail-road intersections and of the blind curve in the city limits, it was deemed technically best alternate technical solution to construct a new elevated rail track ( 4 Km) vis-à-vis the earlier proposal to shift the Rohtak-Makrauli section of the Rohtak-Gohana rail line. Suitable new road safety works are also proposed to be provided in lieu of the elimination of five important level-crossings.  This brown-field project of the elevated of Existing Rohtak-Gohana Railway Line in Rohtak City is envisaged to serve multi-pronged objectives viz. decongestion of Rohtak city, provide road safety solution in lieu of elimination of 5 busy level-crossings connecting residential colonies and enable operational flexibility for the Railways.

The Railway has found it feasible to raise the track with a gradient of 1:200. The elevated Track would cover a distance of 4 km adjoining existing alignment leaving 12m wide strip for construction of road on railway land. With these modifications, the revised estimates have been pegged at Rs. 315 cr. with Railway Share at Rs. 90 cr. & State Govt. Share at Rs.225 cr. The tender for preliminary works such as Survey, Geo-Technical investigations and Design & drawing etc. has been awarded and works commenced.

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Railway Minister stated that the Indian Railways would continue its efforts to extend greater connectivity in the State. This project is envisaged to provide road-user safety whilst easing life of residents of Rohtak, a burgeoning city close to the national capital. The Railways have envisaged a modernized India through the various development projects and have constantly progressed towards that goal through new thrusts and initiatives.
