IRISET Trained 74,337 Signal Engineers since 1957, To celebrate its 58th Annual Day on 24th November, 2015

Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), Tarnaka, Secunderabad is a Centralized Training Institute under Ministry of Railways. The institute imparts training to officers and supervisors of Signal and Telecommunication department of Indian Railways, foreign Railways, Public and Private sector Signal Engineers. Apart from imparting induction course training to probationers (officers) and apprentices (supervisors), IRISET also conducts regular mandatory refresher & safety courses. The institute was established o­n 24th November, 1957 with the name as “All India S&T School” now known as IRISET.

The need for training has considerably increased over the years due to technological advancements in Signaling & Telecommunication Systems, the challenges to meet growing demand for new services & capacity building. Since inception, the Institute has trained 74,337 supervisors and officers and enabled them to handle Railway operation, maintenance and modernization.

IRISET also provides training to the personnel of foreign Railways, Public and Private Sector companies in India. Signal Engineers from Afro-Asian economies like Bangladesh, East Africa, Ghana, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Malayasia, Srilanka, Laos, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nigeria, Philippines, South Korea, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Vietnam and Zambia have received training in IRISET.

IRISET organized 113 courses and trained 3000 persons during the current calendar year up to October, 2015. The institute has earned Rs 1.57 crores from training fee received for training Non Indian Railway personnel like Public Sector Units, Corporates and Foreign Nationals. 17 Refresher training courses have been conducted in which 1044 trainees have attended. Six special courses on safety have been conducted in which 106 trainees participated. At present, IRISET has 11 laboratories, 12 well equipped class rooms and 4 well furnished hostels. Keeping abreast with technological upgradation, more and more advance systems & equipments are being provided in the labs.

IRISET also took initiative by developing E-learning modules for interactive learning o­n “Anywhere Anytime” basis, which is uploaded on IRISET website. The institute has extended its classroom virtually to all Zonal training centres that are spread over length and breadth of country through video conferencing and E-learning.

The training imparted at the Institute emphasizes o­n all round development of personality. IRISET has upgraded two Shuttle Courts to the world class standards and also provided a Gymnasium. Meditation, Yoga, Indoor and Outdoor sports facilities are also provided in the campus that includes 9 hole golf course & golf hut.
