Designer Coaches of Railways offer Excellent Ambience & Modern Facilities
New Delhi: Languorous luxurious travel and a ‘homely’ feel on Indian Railways will no more be a wishful thinking!
The new luxury coaches of Indian Railways built under ‘ Make in India’ have ergonomic jerk-less seats, with beautifully done interiors in bright rich colours. Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted pictures of the new designer coaches on Monday.
The coaches are spacious, fitted with modern amenities, have bigger side berths, LED reading lights, snacks table and bio-toilets system installed in them.
As per reports, out of 100 plus coaches to be build initially, 87 would be non AC, 17 would be for AC 3 tier, 5 for AC 2 tier and one each for AC 1 and chair car. While AC coaches have been built at the cost of Rs 70 lakh, sleeper coaches cost Rs 49 lakh.
Indian Railways is also expected to launch phase two of luxury coaches which will include executive class chair car coaches for Shatabdi Express.
Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, in the month of February roped-in Ahmedabad based NID to re-design the train coaches with an aim to provide comfortable journey to passengers wherein National Institute of Design (NID) will architect the designer coaches for the purpose.
Meanwhile, four new NIDs are coming up at Vijayawada, Jorhat, Kurukshetra and Bhopal, the statement said.
