New train to Bengaluru only in timetable
A new express train between Bengaluru and Mangaluru announced by the then Minister for Railways D.V. Sadananda Gowda features in the new timetable announced by the Southern Railway on September 29.
Train No. 16576 Mangaluru-Bengaluru Daily Express via Kabakaputtur is scheduled to leave at 6.30 a.m. and its pairing train from Bengaluru, Train No. 16575 would arrive at Mangaluru at 9.15 p.m.
But there is no reason for Mangalureans to rejoice, as the timetable for these services are marked with an asterisk, indicating that the date of introduction of the services would be notified later. However, the timetable released by the South Western Railway recently does not list these trains.
New timings
The new timetable would be effective from October 1, in which departure the timings of two important trains from Mangaluru Central have been revised. Trains towards Mumbai would run on the monsoon timetable till October 31. Train No. 56640, Mangaluru-Madgaon Passenger would depart Mangaluru Central at 5.50 a.m. instead of the monsoon time of 6.20 a.m.
Train No. 12602 Mangaluru-Chennai Mail would leave Mangaluru Central at 1.35 p.m. instead of the present 1.20 p.m. Similarly, Train No. 16630 Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Malabar Express would depart Central at 6.15 p.m. instead of the present 6.20 p.m., a release from the Southern Railway here said.
The numbers of Kochuveli-Dehradun-Kochuveli Weekly Express would get changed from October 1. Instead of 12287/12288, the trains would run with the numbers 22659 and 22660, the release said.
The timetable also featured commercial halts for Duronto Express trains at their technical halts to be effective from January 2016. Train No. 12223/12224 Lokamanya Tilak Terminal-Ernakulam-LTT Duronto bi-weekly express and Train No. 12283/12284 Ernakulam-Hazrath Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Duronto weekly express would get a commercial stop at Mangaluru Junction.
Southern Railway will run a special train between Kochuveli and Mangaluru Junction to clear the extra rush. Train No. 06094 Kochuveli-Mangaluru Jn. Special will leave Kochuveli at 9.15 p.m. on Thursday to arrive at Mangaluru Jn. at 11.30 a.m. the next day. Train No. 06095 will leave Mangaluru Jn. at 7.15 p.m. on October 4 to reach Kochuveli at 6.45 a.m. the next day.
