Coimbatore Railway Junction will come up with Two lifts

Two lifts to come up at Coimbatore Railway Junction

Two lifts will come up at the Coimbatore Railway Junction this year for the use of the aged, differently abled, and ailing passengers.

The, lifts, costing Rs. 20 lakh each, will replace the old lift used to carry cargo. One of the lifts will help passengers reach Platforms 1, and 2, and the other Platforms 3, and 4. A lift for Platforms 5, and 6 will come up in future.

The Junction has two escalators connecting Platforms 1 to 4.Works are about to begin to install lifts at Tirupur and Erode railway stations too. Two lifts have been installed at Salem Junction Railway Station.

Once the lifts become functional, the sub-way will be made more spacious by removing the walls that divide the walkway.

The station already has eight wheel-chairs, and three stretchers. They are available on request from the official concerned.

The railways are planning to rope in the services of hospitals to run an emergency medical aid booth at the station.

They have already become operational in Salem, Karur and Erode.
