High speed train toilet emptying system delivered

CHINA: The first of Smith Brothers & Webb’s ‘airline-style’ Controlled Effluent Transfer System toilet tank emptying units has been installed at Hong Kong’s Shek Kong depot, which will maintain trainsets used on the future Express Rail Link.

The manufacturer says the automated CETS can empty tanks three times faster than conventional machines, enabling a single operative to empty the toilets in a 12-car high-speed train in 10 min.

‘The shipment of our first CET System is extremely exciting and we hope this will be the first of many as word spreads about the many advantages’, said director Andy Barracliffe. ‘Operators want swift turnarounds of trains and the new fully-automated Britannia CET System saves them time.’
