Neral-Matheran rail services to be suspended from today

The Neral to Matheran rail services will be suspended from today onwards due to the monsoon, railway officials informed on Monday. The Railways also informed that no train services were delayed on the Central Railway due to the monsoon.

Narendra Patil, PRO of Central Railway confirmed about the suspension of the Neral to Matheran services. “The services will be suspended due to the monsoon. But Aman Lodge-Matheran shuttle services will run as per schedule,” said Patil. He also informed that no services on the Central line was delayed due to heavy rains.

No trains were delayed on the Western Railway too. Sharat Chandrayan, CPRO, Western Railway said, “There have been no delays in the train services due to the heavy rains. We haven’t received any such complaints at present,” said Chandrayan.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 30.2 mm rainfall at Colaba while at Santacruz it recorded 5.6 mm rainfall from 8.30 am-5.30 pm. V K Rajeev, IMD Director said, that the city can expect heavy rainfall in the next few days too. “There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the next few days,” said Rajeev.

Asked as to why there was lesser rainfall on Monday than was recorded on June 14, he said that there will be fluctuations in rainfall. “It’s not necessary that the city will receive heavy rainfall all the time. There can be fluctuations in the amount of rainfall,” said Rajeev. On June 14, the IMD had recorded 40.6 mm rainfall in Santacruz and 84 mm in Colaba between 8.30 am-5.30 pm on Sunday.
