WESTERN RAILWAY Rejects Demand for Three-bogey train

WR rejects demand for three-bogey train

Bharuch Jn (BH): The Indian Railways has rejected Bharuch Citizens’ Council (BCC) demand to run a three-bogey train between Bharuch and Ankleshwar. BCC had demanded this small train for daily commuters who get stuck up in frequent traffic jams on Sardar Bridge and Golden Bridge. In a reply to BCC representation, the railways said that it was technically not feasible to run this train due to lack of space on either side to accommodate extra bogeys during non-use hours.

The railways said that the distance between the two towns is just 9.24km and there is ample road transportation available.

Jivraj Patel, vice-president of BCC said the council was disappointed with the rejection.

“Maybe the western railway doesn’t know the situation of road transportation between the two towns. We will peruse the matter with railway minister and explain our plight.”

At least 50,000 people commute between the two towns daily.
