E-Tickets for Differently-Abled in all Railway Zones

E-Tickets for Differently-Abled in all Railway Zones

New Delhi: Railway Board has issued a circular extending the benefit of booking e-tickets to differently-abled persons across all railway zones. Initially, it was introduced on a pilot basis for Northern Railway only.

Prior to booking e-tickets through IRCTC web portal, differently-abled passengers would have to obtain a photo identity card containing a unique ID number, issued by the concerned zonal railways. It is necessary for booking e-tickets.

For this, the passenger would have to submit to the nearest Divisional Railway Manager’s office self-attested copies of concession certificate, photo-identity card, address proof and two passport size photographs. The envelope should be superscribed with ‘Application for issue of railway identity card for physically challenged persons for ticketing.’

The senior Divisional Commercial Manager is the concerned authority for issuance of the photo identity railway identity card. Though a time frame has not been specified, the circular states that the process should be completed within reasonable period. The applicant would be informed via telephone after the card is ready and it could be collected by a representative as well.
