The much-awaited 160km-an-hour Gatiman Express would soon begin its run on the Delhi-Agra stretch, Railway Board Chairman A.K. Mittal said on Sunday.
Once the railway safety commissioner gives the nod, the train would start plying, he said here.
The train would cover the 200 km distance in around 90 minutes.
Mittal said the Agra-Etawah railway line was ready, and very soon trains will start plying on this route. Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpeyi's ancestral town Bateshwar in Bah tehsil of Agra will also benefit from this new rail link.
The railway board chairman inspected the Agra Fort and Agra Cantonment railway stations and ordered improvement in cleanliness.
The second escalator at the Agra Cantonment railway station would start functioning soon, Mittal said.
