A GIFT TO THE RAILWAY EMPLOYEES – RAILWAY STAFF AND CARD HOLDERS WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO BOOK ONLINE E-TICKETS

New Delhi: Along with 14 Lac Railway Employees and Card Holders, other miscellaneous card holders eligible for concession will also be able to book e-tickets from home through the Internet. It would not be compulsory for them to take tickets from the counter. Their pass number and identity card details will be requested while booking their tickets online.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu has passed instructions to the railway ward to prepare the Proposal before the Railway Budget. There is a possibility of the same to be declared during the Railway Budget.

According to Rail ward official sources, instructions to make concession cards for the Handicap have already been passed two months ago. Once all cards for the Handicap are made, they will also be able to utilize this facility.
Officials believe that, on receipt of instructions from the Railway Minister, the Rail Ward is seriously working on these lines. Nationwide 14 Lakh railway employees will be benefited by the e-ticket facility.

Also, over four lakh card-pass holders will be benefitted. Initially, IRCTC was facing a difficulty regarding the checking of these tickets, but the Railway Minister resolved this stating that, if counter tickets can be checked by the TTE, then the identity proof of the card holders can also be checked by the TTE. Why shouldn’t they be given the facility of e-ticket?

What should be the charges?
For an e-ticket in sleeper class and second sitting, the railway employees and pass holders are to pay Rs 10 extra and for any Air Conditioned class they are to pay Rs 20 more than the fixed rates.

These people will be benefitted:

Along with railway employees, press representatives, Cancer and AIDS patients, Scout and Guide authorised personnel, National Level Players who are in receipt of the card-pass and Major Artists will be benefited by this facility.
Group C and Group D railway employees receive three sets of Passes and four sets of PTOs every year. By this, the railway can travel in any train, anywhere in India. Almost every railway employee can travel in AC compartments. The lowest graded employees can travel in AC-3, the middle level officers AC-2 and the top executives can travel in AC-1 compartments.

Apart from this, the complete family members of the railway employee can travel along with them free of cost. The validity of pass PTOs in railways is of four months. Once received, the pass PTOs are to be utilized within a period of four months. Apart from this, the railway employees are eligible for various other passes.

One of the major used are school passes. School passes are issued to the children of Railway employees for to-and-fro transit to their schools.  Apart from this, the railway employees staying away from their work place are issued daily passes for to-and-fro transit from work to home.
