Railway to use Private Funds to upgrade facilities
New Delhi: The Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, recently stressed that private funding would be used by the railways to reduce dependency on public finances.
He said there was no proposal to privatise the railways. Instead, the national transporter plans to optimise the utilisation of all value assets in a way to supplement public investment.
The Minister said that “Private capital helps reduce the burden on public finances which is generated by taxing people through income tax or indirect taxation. It will help railways to provide better services and income will also increase.”
