Spate of Snags continues to haunt the Thane Suburban Section

Thane (TNA): While the technical task force announced by the railway minister in Thane is yet to be formed, the spate of snags continues to haunt the Thane suburban sector. Activists and commuters have urged authorities to expedite the same and ensure a safe journey to over 10 lakh commuters from this part of Mumbai.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu had announced setting up a technical task force to look into the frequent snags reported on the Mumbai suburban network. Addressing a meeting of railway activists recently in Thane, Prabhu had assured that the special committee will be set up to allocate funds and undertake regular maintenance of rakes to avoid frequent snags.

“Every second day you hear of snags reported on the suburban system. Setting up a dedicated team is a good idea to minimize such disruptions,” said Adesh Bhagat, an activist from Diva.

“Talks of setting up a technical team to look into the problems is fine but the focus should be on its fast implementation and ensuring adequate maintenance,” said Purnendu Biswas, a commuter.

Meanwhile, railway officials at Mumbai headquarters said they haven’t yet received any intimation about the setting up of the special committee yet.
