RailTel announces ‘Mission 2015′
New Delhi: RailTel had marched forward with coordinated and concerted efforts during 2014. RailTel have grown as an organisation in almost all the aspects. RailTel’s systems of working, its vision, its shared thought processes, and the ability to take up challenges and collective responsibility have matured in all the spheres of RailTel’s work. RailTel has grown with respect to OFC network’s reach & capacity, new assets creation, financial independence, technically superiority, markets being operating in, and even on the number and the kind of services it offers.
RailTel had exceeded the targets set by Govt. of India for the FY 2013-14 and achieved ‘Excellent’ rating. The turnover for financial year 2013-14 has been the highest ever achieved by RailTel which stood at Rs.538 Crores, with 22% increase over FY 2012-13 and a net profit of Rs.138 Crores, which is also approximately 22% higher than the net profit of its previous FY, and in the current financial year too, Railtel is expecting to keep up with the trend.
During the year 2014, RailTel has worked on some new services and started providing Saakshaat-TPaas, an immersive High Definition Tele-Presence as a Service. RailTel started two Tier-III Data Centres at Secunderabad & Gurgaon providing Data Center & Disaster Recovery Services. During the year, RailTel also launched RailWire on all India basis thereby, entering into the retail broadband market. RailTel also entered into facility management agreement with HARTRON (Govt. of Haryana) for managing their State Wide Area Network at an approximate cost of Rs.100 Cr. for a period of 5 years. Since RailTel has expertise in managing their own network, these new areas of systems integration could be comfortably taken up and managed by its expert technical staff.
RailTel now has also gained a top reputation for being a reliable service provider within the Govt Departments and large IT MNC’s. RailTel need to ensure reliability of services being offered to them as enterprise customers are its top priority-1 for growth credentials.
RailTel has been successfully implementing various government projects including Systems Integration. For dedicated focus in this new area of System Integration, RailTel Enterprises Limited (REL) has been incorporated during the year and RailTel expects that it would become one strong arm of RailTel.
WiFi internet services being provided by RailTel at Bengaluru and New Delhi Railway stations have been inaugurated by the Minister for Railways himself; this is providing the much needed branding space for RailTel and its services. RailTel has also been mandated to provide WiFi internet facilities at all railway stations which is an opportunity for the future businesses and shall be in consonance with RailWire retail (B2C) business.
RailTel also aims to stay focussed on the challenges it has to overcome in future. The expectations from RailTel have grown and fulfilling them is going to take all out efforts by one & all within their capacity, capabilities and consistent hard work. The importance of NKN project and the NOFN and USOF projects in NE1 and NE2 regions need much more effort in bringing them to reality.
RailTel’s behaviour towards customers, vendors and parent & sister organisations reflects its organisational culture. Sufficient efforts are being made to provide training and exposure in technical, managerial and personal areas of growth, for the employees. The new intranet web portal (RailTel-Connect) launched recently shall ensure dissemination of information to one and all within RailTel.
As RailTel stand closer to realising the vision of being a Rs.1000 Crore company, RailTel management would like all of put all out efforts into its daily work culture in order to realize the dream. With the history of successes on its side, RailTel shall continue to strive towards the envisioned goals.
