Proposals for Railway Developmental Works for the Next Year being Finalized by SCR Shri P.K. Srivastava, GM/SCR holds High Level Review Meeting to Set the Priorities
Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager/SCR conducted a high level works review meeting with all Principal Heads of the Departments and Divisional Railway Managers from all six Divisions of SCR through video-conferencing at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e. on 20.11.2014.
During this meeting, Shri Srivastava critically reviewed the status of ongoing developmental works on SCR, especially the progress of works related to traffic facilities, track renewals, developing new passenger terminals, Road Over Bridges / Road Under Bridges, elimination of unmanned level crossings, electrical, signal & telecom works, improving passenger amenities and staff amenities etc.
At present, there are around 637 major developmental works worth Rs. 5,490 Cr are under progress under various Plan categories mentioned above. The GM monitored the physical and financial progress of these works and the utilization of allotted funds so far in the current financial year 2014-15. In view of the resource constraints, he emphasized on prioritizing the sanctioned works and speeding up the critically important and last-mile projects to bring about tangible results.
In addition, the General Manager also reviewed the proposals submitted by the Divisions and various Departments for major works to be sanctioned for the next fiscal i.e. FY 2015-16. Keeping in view the huge backlog of the previously sanctioned works, he underscored the need to finalize only those proposals which provide quick results in enhancing the traffic handling capacities and in improving amenities needed by passengers. Creating necessary infrastructural facilities to strengthen safety; and to increase the line capacity and the terminal capacities to enable running of more number of passenger / freight trains shall be given top priority, stressed the GM.
In this connection, some of the works highlighted by Shri Srivastava for submitting to Railway Board for new sanctions include- development of new passenger terminals for twin cities at Moula-Ali and Nagulapalli to ease out the present congestion at Secunderabad Junction; provision of CCTV surveillance cameras with central monitoring system at all MMTS stations in Hyderabad for strengthening security and monitoring cleanliness activities; and elimination of unmanned level crossings through manning / subways / diversion roads for enhanced safety etc.
