SPECIAL CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGN BY SOUTHERN RAILWAY
Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister for Railways Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the ‘Swachh Bharat campaign’ will be launched by Railways on Gandhi Jayanthi Day, the 2nd October, 2014. The Swachh Bharat campaign will be a comprehensive campaign involving Shramdaan on 2nd October in addition to other Awareness Campaigns, Plays, Exhibitions, Rallies and Formation of Human Chains.
All officers and staff of Southern Railway will participate in the cleanliness campaign on 2nd October at stations, workshops, offices, colonies and offer shramdaan to ensure that railway premises are kept clean.A detailed action plan has already been prepared and circulated to all Divisions. Areas being covered under the cleanliness campaign are tracks, platforms, concourse, circulating area, parking area, subways, foot over bridges etc. In addition, the assistance of NGOs, NSS, NCC, school and college students is also being solicited to spread awareness. Innovative schemes like a Campaign Coach on Wheels, Plays, Rallies, Use of Folk Media like Yaksha Gana, Singari Melam, Flash Dance etc. are already popular amongst the passengers. Certain activities like cleaning of tracks, offices, workshops have already been carried out as a prelude to the campaign.
For coordinating the shramdaan on 2ndOctober, 2014, officers have been nominated to all important stations/sections. Materials required for cleaning have already been procured for use by the volunteers. All rail users and concerned citizens are requested to cooperate with and help the Railways in this endeavour.
Shri Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway, the Divisional Railway Managers of all six Divisions of Southern Railway, officers as well as staff have volunteered to offer shramdaan and will pledge to commit themselves to ensuring cleanliness of railway premises and also making this effort sustainable so that the aim of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’will become a reality.
