Gang offered train tickets, looted victims in Delhi Metro
NEW DELHI: The crime branch has busted a gang of crooks which targeted victims travelling to railway stations in Delhi Metro by offering them confirmed train tickets and then robbing them after taking them to an isolated place. The gang struck during festive season and had planned to commit multiple robberies with people returning to their hometown in Dussehra, police said.
Ashok Chand, additional CP (crime), said that the unit had been investigating several cases reported with people returning home and zeroed on this gang as the modus operandi was same in every case.
"On September 26, ACP KPS Malhotra received a tip-off about the gang coming to Green Park Metro station to target victims headed to their hometown for Durga Puja. A team comprising inspector Kulbir Singh and sub inspector Ritesh laid a trap and nabbed the accused," Chand added.
