As per sources, prior to reorganization of zones by the Union Government, on April 14, 1952, there were 8 divisions in North India during the British period. The other three divisions were Allabahad, Bikaner and Jodhpur.
The stations beyond Jalandhar are likely to come under Jammu Division and certain stations of Ambala Division in Ferozepur Division for more effective and efficient working. Rationalization of staff had also started for posting the officials who belong to Jammu.
