Western Railway starts Disaster Management cell
Mumbai: Western Railway has taken a step towards disaster management with the setting up of a modern Disaster Management Cell equipped with advanced technology. The cell and other infrastructure was inaugurated by Hemant Kumar, General manager, Western Railway at Zonal Headquarter Office, Churchgate in the presence of Deepak Gupta, additional general manager, Praveen Kumar Mishra, chief safety officer, other principal heads of department and other senior officers. This has been done in line with the recommendations made by a high-level committee on rail safety. The committee had recommended setting up a disaster management cells at zonal & divisional level. These cells should be multi-disaster resistant and fully equipped with backup systems.
