SHRC files Case against Railways for forcible deboarding a lady passenger during night
Thiruvananthapuram (TVC): The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has registered a case against Southern Railway for forcing out a female passenger from Jan Shatabdi Express during night for not carrying an identity card although she possess a valid ticket for her journey. The Commission served notice on the Divisional Manager of the Southern Railway on Saturday in this regard.
The Commission took the case following a complaint from P S Deepthi, a resident of Avanakuzhi.
The incident pertaining to the case happened on August 15 after Deepthi boarded the train from Cherthala station.According to the complaint lodged by the passenger, though she tried to convince the railway ticket examiner about her ignorance of the rule to carry identity card while travelling with reservation ticket, she was driven out from the train during night time.
