Railways ticket reservation affected as CRIS PRS Server crashes

Chennai (MAS): Railways’ passenger reservation system (PRS) server crashed on Tuesday morning disappointing hundreds of people who thronged booking centres in Chennai.

The system failed at around 10am and had not been available for more than an hour. This affected tatkal reservation which started at 10am.

People could not book tickets at Moore Market Complex (MMC), Egmore and many other reservation centres in the city as the server did not work.

Hundreds of people who arrived at MMC centre near Central railway station had to wait for a long time on the queue. There are more than 10 counters at MMC. Online booking was also affected. Ticket status also could not be checked.

“The server failed at around 10am and reservations were disrupted. Steps are being taken to set right the problem,” said a senior railway officer.
