NORTHERN RAILWAY STEPS UP VIGILANCE CHECKS IN MASS CONTACT AREAS DURING THE FESTIVE RUSH PERIOD

EARMARKS PERIOD FROM 20.09.2014 TO 31.10.2014 AS SPECIAL DRIVE PERIOD

A broad Action Plan has been chalked-out by the Northern Railway Vigilance to curb the activities of unscrupulous elements/touts in Mass Contact Areas during the ensuing Puja/Diwali Holidays. Earmarking a “Special Drive’ period from 20.09.2014 to 31.10.2014, Northern Railway has constituted special teams to carry out intensified checks during the period. Three teams headed by Vigilance Inspectors assisted by RPF staff will function on rotation basis and shall conduct checks in station premises and all public interface areas in the vicinity of Reservation Centres/stations.

As per practice, touts and unauthorized ticket sale will form the special thrust during the drive period. However, with touting activity showing a perceptible decline due to tighter monitoring on regular basis, the Vigilance teams will be focusing on areas like Rail Travel Service Agents, Jansadharan Ticket Booking Service, and Unauthorized Ticketing Agencies. The teams would also zero in on other areas like suspected tickets which have been prepared in fake names/IDs, train checks, Ticket on Transfer (TOT), Fake/forged tickets, Blank Paper Ticket (BPT), Empty Foil ticket (EFT), PCT, Circular Tout Ticket (CTT), Pass/Privilege Ticket Order(PTO), Resale/Reuse of unsold ticket, Misuse of various quotas, attachment/firing in Public Reservation System (PRS) of special trains and coaches besides checks on weighment of Luggage Vans, Parcel Vans, unauthorized vendors at stations.
