Delhi Airport line worst hit by technical snags
New Delhi: The Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, which has constantly been in the news for technical snags, is apparently not the worst hit line of the metro network. An internal study conducted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has revealed that the Airport Line tops the list followed by the Inderlok-Mundka line when it comes to technical failure leading to disruption in services. Further, Line 2 that connects Jehangirpuri-HUDA City Centre is the least hit.
Even though the Blue Line that connects Dwarka with Noida City Centre/Vaishali is only third in recording snags, the commuters are worst hit since this line transports the maximum number of passengers daily. “Technical snags on this line are more prominent since more commuters get affected. Unlike the Mundka line where traffic moves in one direction, the Blue Line sees a whole lot of movement,” said a DMRC spokesperson.
Figures show that 10,23,245 commuters travelled on this Blue line on August 4, the day on which the Delhi Metro’s ridership reached over 27 lakh, while only 99,357 people travelled on Inderlok-Mundka line. “Looking at the performance of these lines between April 2013 till date, it shows that the Airport Line has recorded 0.375 failures per-route kilometre, the Mundka line has seen 0.1625 failures per-route kilometre and then Blue Line comes in with 0.14,” said the spokesperson.
This is then followed by Dilshad Garden-Rithala line, Mandi House- Badarpur and then the Jahangirpuri-HUDA City Centre line.
Jehangirpuri-HUDA line is least affected, says DMRC study
