RITES to make a presentation on 4 Metro Corridors of Patna Metro Rail on 5th Sept

Patna (PNBE):  RITES will make a presentation on the Patna Metro rail’s draft feasibility report before secretary, urban development and housing, Sandeep Poundrik on September 5.

An agency of Indian Railways, RITES — formerly Rail India Technical and Economic Services — was assigned the job to prepare a feasibility report and detailed project report for the Metro rail project.

Sources claimed the presentation would be made on the draft feasibility report on the four corridors suggested by the project’s inception report.

A senior official in the urban department and housing department said: “Once the department gives its nod on the findings of the draft feasibility report, RITES would continue with finalising the detailed project report.”

Sources claimed the urban development and housing department is in talks with several agencies, including Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which has experience in running similar Metro rail projects in other cities.

Sources in RITES also claimed that the feasibility and the detailed project reports are solely focused on the Metro Rail and does not involve any prospect for inclusion of the mono rail.

The deadline to create the Patna Metro Rail Corporation, the authority for the city’s Metro, has in the meantime gone by.

Urban development and housing minister Samrat Choudhary, at a news meet on July 17, had fixed August 15 as the deadline.

On Thursday, he told, “The nodal officer appointed for the Metro Rail project is down with typhoid for the past couple of weeks. So, the creation of the authority has been delayed.”

Early last year, then chief minister Nitish Kumar gave his in-principle approval for a Metro rail in the city.

To be executed in public-private partnership mode, the project will have an estimated outlay of Rs 14,000 crore.

On June 17 last year, a memorandum of understanding for the feasibility study and preparation of detailed project report for the Patna Metro rail was also signed between Arbind Kumar, director (projects), RITES, and S. Siddharth, then secretary, urban development and housing.

Later on September 11, a presentation on the inception report was made before former chief secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha.

Based on the findings, the department launched a website on Patna Metro rail — www.patnametro.in — on September 21 for feedback from residents.

Construction of the Patna Metro will be divided into three phases.

Phase-I:

Route 1 A: Danapur to Mithapur/Bypass Chowk via High court and Patna Railway Station (14.5km)

Elevated from Danapur to RPS More, Underground from RPS More to Patna Station and Elevated from Patna Station to Bypass Chowk.

Route 1 B: Digha-High Court Link (5.5Km) merging at High Court with Corridor 1A and further going up to Mithapur via Patna Railway Station

Elevated along the railway siding from Digha to Shivpuri and further underground upto High court.

Route 2: Patna Railway Station to Dak Bungalow Chowk to Proposed ISBT via Gandhi Maidan, Medical College. Rajendra Nagar Railway Station, Agamkuan/Gandhi Setu (16Km).  Underground upto Rajendra Nagar Railway Station and further elevated upto Proposed ISBT.

Phase-II:

Bypass Chowk/Mithapur to Deedarganj via.Transport Nagar along NH 30 Bypass (13 Km). Elevated along Bypass Road.

Phase-III:

Route 4Bypass Chowk/Mithapur to Phulwari Shariff/AIMS via Anisabad along NH 30 Bypass (11Km)Elevated along Bypass Road.
