Konkan Railway nabs 180 persons, recovers Rs 3.52 lakh fines

MUMBAI : The Konkan Railway apprehended 180 persons under various Railway Acts recently and collected a fine of Rs 3.52 lakh during the past three months.

The RPF of Konkan Railway seized 3,570 unclaimed illicit liquor bottles worth Rs 1.08 lakh. It also apprehended 178 persons for anti-social activities, including trespassing, littering, nuisance creating, begging, etc. Fines to the tune of Rs 1.96 lakh were recovered from them.

Two persons were apprehended for stealing railway property from yard and were booked under the Railway Protection (Unlawful Possession) Act. ""As many as seven children, who had run away from home, were also reunited with their families by the RPF,""said KR's chief spokesperson Vaishali Patange.

During the joint ticket checking campaign with commercial staff, 93 persons were caught travelling ticketless and a fine of Rs 47,338 was recovered, she added.
