ER’S RECORD FREIGHT LOADING & EARNING
Kolkata, July 11, 2014:
Eastern Railway has increased its total revenue loading to 16.172 Million Tonnes surpassing the target of 15.660 Million Tonnes for the first quarter of the current financial year i.e. from April to June, 2014, as against the revenue loading of 14.046 Million Tonnes during the corresponding period of previous year and thus achieved an increase of 15.14 % in comparison to the last year’s performance. Coal loading alone stood as high as 11.07 Million Tonnes during April to June, 2014 in comparison to that of 9.315 Million Tonnes during April to June, 2013.
The total revenue earning from freight loading also increased to Rs.1233.03 Crores in the first quarter of the current financial year as against Rs. 973.10 Crores earned during the corresponding period of last year. This is 26.71 % higher in comparison to last year’s performance. The share of earning from coal freight alone stood at Rs. 852.37 Crores till June, 2014 which is 41.43 % higher in respect of coal earning during corresponding period of last year.
This quantum jump in both freight loading and earning in the current year is due to offering of Coal rakes in the newly commissioned siding at Pakur and loading of coal rakes for long destinations.
