Duronto Tragedy Averted at Warangal Railway Station

Duronto Tragedy Averted at Warangal Railway Station

WARANGAL: Hazrat Nizamuddin - Chennai Central Duronto Express was stopped for about one hour at Warangal railway station here on Wednesday as it developed cracks at the bottom part of a compartment (above S6 bogie’s wheel part).

After halting at Warangal railway station, a traveller noticed some sounds from the bottom of the compartment and alerted Travelling Ticket Examiner, S Parathasarathy, who in turn informed station manager Jaya Kumar. The railway engineers and mechanic wing staff delinked the S6 bogie from the train and placed it on another track. Passengers travelling in the faulty bogie were changed into a new bogie linked to the train. The restoration took about one hour. Meanwhile Railway police also pressed dog squad into action.

The Railway authorities were relieved and said the passenger’s alertness averted a major accident. With the train running at a speed of 130 kmph, the crack in the compartment floor could have resulted in  derailment, sources said.
